Gemini is a new internet technology supporting an electronic library of interconnected text documents. It is not a replacement for the web, but an alternative to it.
Gemini is an internet protocol in the spirit of the small web — somewhere between Gopher and the modern web, without the complexity that the web has accumulated. Capsules (Gemini sites) are easy to write and servers are easy to run.
